Archeo - Impruneta Terracotta

Founded by Urbano Corradossi

In 1998, after thirty years of experience in a company in the sector, Urbano Corradossi founded the Archeo company in Pistoia, Tuscany.

Inspired by the ancient and ancestral traditions of Impruneta terracotta, the family-run company produces handcrafted products.

Special features:

The unique Impruneta clay gives incomparable colours and gives exceptional resistance to frost and weathering.

Tradition and modernity:

Vases, amphorae, jugs and other terracotta items are renewed and developed through studies and research, as well as in collaboration with landscape architects. The traditional product lines are complemented by modern and contemporary series. This flexibility and direct control of all production phases are Archeo's strengths.

Impruneta Terracotta - Centuries of experience and tradition

The first reliable evidence of clay processing in the Impruneta area can be found around the 11th century.

Initially, bricks and roof tiles were made for the construction of buildings. Later, around the year 1300, this special clay was used for the production of jugs, jugs, figurines and garden furniture.

The Dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence

The famous master builder Filippo Brunelleschi from Florence chose the high-quality clay from Impruneta for the construction of the dome of the church of Santa Maria del Fiore in the years from 1418 onwards. A masterpiece that still testifies to the resistance and beauty of this material today.

Continuation of craftsmanship

Archeo preserves the tradition of this craftsmanship and passes on the techniques and working methods of the old master potters from Impruneta to the new generations.
