Peat-free organic soil for crops and vegetables in raised beds
The SERAMIS® vegetable/raised bed organic soil for gardening in raised beds is designed for the special requirements of private crop cultivation. The carefully coordinated recipe is a mixture of peat-free organic soil and the proven SERAMIS® plant granules. The substrate mixture is purely organically pre-fertilised - this ensures vital and healthy growth and provides the best conditions for intensive aroma formation in vegetable plants.
The advantages of SERAMIS® Organic Soil for Vegetables/Raised Beds
- Suitable for all vegetables and herbs in raised beds.
- The unique combination of renewable raw materials with SERAMIS® plant granules creates optimal growing conditions through:
- special structural stability,
- higher water and nutrient storage,
- very good water absorption and water distribution,
- higher air capacity,
- very good rewettability in dry conditions.
- The natural source of potassium ensures aromatic vegetables and good stability of the plants.
- Pre-fertilised for approx. 4 - 6 weeks; afterwards, the plants should be fertilised regularly with a suitable organic fertiliser according to the instructions.
Application
Ready-to-use growing substrate for the use of vegetable and herb plants in raised beds.
- The top layer of the raised bed is the fertile SERAMIS® raised bed/vegetable organic soil. After spreading the top substrate layer of approx. 10 to 15 cm, a planting hole the size of the soil ball to be planted is dug at a time, the plant is inserted, covered with the SERAMIS® raised bed/vegetable organic soil and lightly pressed. After planting, water all plants with water until the soil is well moist. In the following period, keep the soil evenly moist.
- To increase the water reservoir even further, an additional water-storing layer of approx. 3 cm of SERAMIS® plant granules can be applied. This layer is applied before filling in the actual SERAMIS® raised bed/vegetable organic soil.
- An additional layer structure over the raised bed soil with SERAMIS® plant granules is suitable for evaporation protection. It is applied over the raised bed soil in a thickness of about 2 to 3 cm.

*Ensuring winter hardiness
In order to enjoy your terracotta containers for a long time, you should consider the following points:
To prevent water from accumulating, you should place the container on terracotta feet or underlay the container with wooden strips. This prevents waterlogging and thus prevents frost damage to the object, figure, pot and plant.
There must be no water in vessels, water bowls, fountains, bird baths, saucers, etc. in winter or frost.
Cover the hole at the bottom with a curved clay disc and make a drainage with expanded clay and a fleece.
In a hardware store or garden centre, you can get expanded clay with a grain size of 8 – 16 mm. Then cover the expanded clay with a generously cut piece of garden fleece up to the edge. This prevents the soil from seeping through and thus clogging the drainage hole. A nice side effect, the terrace is not soiled by the irrigation water.
With a good potted plant soil, you also ensure better aeration of the soil and an optimal combination of nutrients and water. Now your plant can help itself to water as needed.
Hint! In most cases, the insurance covers any damage, e.g. rear-end collisions, storm damage or theft.
